Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the
Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually
"spiritually guided life force energy." It is administered by "laying on hands" and is
based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive.
If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress,
and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
Reiki energy travels our bodies through energy pathways called meridians, and energy centers called chakras, and travels to where it is needed in our bodies. It may find blocked energy in the form of negative thoughts or feelings of guilt that we can't get past. This can lead to physical illness.
Or it may find a buildup of toxins in our bodies that may lead to disease or illness. Healing Reiki energy surrounds our organs and tissues right down to the cells, creating many beneficial effects
that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well being.
What is a reiki treatment like?
During a treatment, you lie on a comfortable reiki table while fully clothed. You may talk and ask questions during the session if you'd like or enjoy the quiet, stress free environment. I will place or hover my hands over you starting with your head working my way down your chakras.
Sometimes I concentrate on specific areas of pain and inflammation from injuries, surgeries,
and/or disease. Some people feel cool or warm sensations or sometimes tingling. Others just feel very relaxed & peaceful. The session lasts about an hour.
